Dry Needling

Dry needling is a therapeutic treatment administered by a licensed physical therapists, where thin, sterile needles are inserted into specific muscle trigger points to alleviate pain, improve muscle function, and enhance range of motion by stimulating a natural healing response within the body; unlike acupuncture, dry needling focuses on addressing musculoskeletal pain through targeting of trigger points in specific muscles based on a thorough assessment of your condition.

Combining dry needling with electrical nerve stimulation enhances the physiological effects of dry needling, offering a comprehensive approach to pain modulation and tension relief. The biphasic waveform of the electric current can effectively relax the taut bands in the muscles and address underlying issues.

This therapy is highly effective for musculoskeletal conditions such as knee osteoarthritis, muscular pain, back, shoulder, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, lateral epicondylitis, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, sciatica, and headaches. In cases of chronic pain or musculoskeletal conditions, patients may experience notable relief through pain modulation at the spinal & central levels and mechanical changes at the site of needle manipulation. Dry needling with electrical stimulation is used to treat a variety of common conditions involving musculoskeletal pain.

Dry needling treatment is another tool that will be integrated into our Manual Physical Therapy approach. This technique will be an adjunct to the spine mobilization/manipulation, joint mobilization, visceral/cranial/nerve manipulations, and exercise treatments you have come to expect from Kinetichain. Dry needling only sessions will be available on request after an initial evaluation has been performed.
